Chains of Thousand Hearts - COTH

The event has finished, and thank you for your support!

During this event, we raised £38,270. That included £15,320 from the online chain campaign and £22,950 from direct donations to the Scholarship Programme.

Though we didn't reach our initial goal, the impact of your contributions will be felt far and wide.

We aim to connect and unite HKers in the UK through an action of kindness to others through the creation of chains of donors online to help young people who are in need to survive or to thrive in this country.

Period: 15th June to 23rd July, 2023

2 Ways to Join:

Way 1: Establishing a donation chain
To reach out to the public to seek a donation of £20 (or multiple of £20) from each individual to create a chain of donors connecting each other by making a donation and leaving a message
Any individual, group, company, NGO can create a chain of its own name by inviting friends, members, clients and locals to add onto the same chain by donating £20 (or multiple of £20) and inviting 10 more persons to donate to continue the chain
The name of the chain can be the initiator’s name, someone to remember, a neighbourhood, a company, an organisation, or a message to spread
The initiator and the subsequent donors are encouraged to elongate the chain as long as possible by inviting more to donate, making multiple donations, promoting the chain by through the initiator or donors’ channel

Way 2: Donation to extend the chain
Each invited donor will:
1. make a donation of £20 (or multiple of £20),
2. leave a message (optional) and
3. invite 10 more donors

How it works?
Each donor can leave a message when making the donation: to encourage the recipients or AHF, to say something to other HKers, to express feeling towards the UK, or simply to tell one’s feeling
Both the donor’s name and the name of the message can be real name or a pseudonym
All the chains with their latest status will be posted onto COTH website real time or at least daily
The messages will be posted on COTH website everyday
Each donor can donate multiples of £20 so as to donate more or for the purpose of elongating the chain
The chain will be closed at 11:59pm on 23 July, 2023

Chain Creation and Donations:
1. Each chain initiator, besides naming their own chain, will be responsible for promoting and managing their own chain. They should stay tuned about the daily or real-time updates of the chain. If they notice that an invited person has not joined the chain, they can remind him or her or invite others to join instead.
2. After clicking "Create a Chain," the chain initiator will be redirected to another webpage to fill out an application form. Once the submission is made and the donation is completed, we will review and establish the chain as soon as possible.
3. The chain initiator will receive an email/WhatsApp notification upon completion. Once the notification is received, the chain initiator can start promoting their chain so created. They should provide the chain name, the "Chains of Thousand Hearts" event webpage (https://www.athome.city/coth or https://www.athome.city/coth-ch), the dedicated "Join one of the Chains" webpage, and their personal information to the invited donors.
4. The invited donors can enter their messages and details, submit the form, and complete the donation. (The Ranking BIllboard and links to all chains will be updated daily on the event webpage.)
5. When the At Home Fund receives donations with the donor's name (or alias) and message, they will be posted on the "Chains of Thousand Hearts" website.
